We did Avalanche peak last time we were in Yellowstone. It is absolutely one of my favorite!!! We have done Elephant Back, Shoshone Lake, Mt. Washburn and others, but I still think Avalanche Peak was the most challenging and the scenery was absolutely fantastic. It is definitely one we will do again when we go next year. It is 2 miles one way and I am a slow hiker, so it took us about four hours because it is really steep in places and we took lots of pictures.
