I had a wonderful 10 days in Yellowstone,Tetons and Cody in 2005, but did not see Glacier. Many had said Glacier was the best and had the most grizzlies. This year, we visited Yellowstone briefly and then spent 7 days in Glacier area (East and West) So, here is what I would like to have known before I planned my trip.
1. Glacier is beautiful - but so is Yellowstone
2. One day in Glacier, two at the most, is enough of Glacier unless you are a seasoned hiker, a week is not enough in Yellowstone (lots to see and do), but week will suffice.
3. Glacier may have a much higher grizzly population, but they - like all other large animals in Glacier, are very difficult to see from a vehicle.
4. Glacier is for hikers - a hikers paradise.
5. To be honest, I would have never driven the 13 hours to visit Glacier over Yellowstone if I had known what I know now. I would have stayed in Yellowstone area.
6. Going to the Sun Highway is not more beautiful that the Beartooth.
Sorry Glacier fans - Yellowstone has the upper edge in my opinion.
