Once you get to the top of the hill above the vault toilet at the picnic area (nice vision, isn't it) the trail runs right along the top of the Yellowstone River canyon - you're looking across at the Calcite Springs overlook, etc. The views to the river below are just lovely, but those afraid of heights should stay back from the edge.
The trail is mostly unshaded, so be ready for that. I've seen bighorns, marmots, coyotes, cool birds (the peregrine falcon that nests in the canyon wall, blue birds, etc.) and in the distance, black bears.
You can make it as long or as short a hike as you like. The scenery's great, in my experience it's not heavily traveled, you'll have a nice time.
