A group of us are going into the Thorofare in August and am wondering what type of footwear you Thorofare veterans have used to success. I have a pair of excellent Hawthorn loggers that I have worn a lot in the mountains but am wondering whether these leather boots would become sponges in wetter terrain, like the Thorofare. If we were hiking higher country and not river bottom land I wouldn't worry about it so much so am asking the experts. I have shopped around and tried waterproof Asolos, Vasque, Danner, et al and have found all of them to feel pretty good. Should I spring for the best or hike with my loggers?
