A somewhat strenuous ascent up to the ridge, but the views and animals encountered will be worth it. There is trail access and parking just west of Crystal Creek which is about 4 miles east of Tower Junction (Roosevelt Lodge). There are several access points to the Specimen Ridge Trail, but I like this one the best. Unless rules have changed, bear spray is recommended for all hiking in YNP, but I have never needed it.
